Environmental Concerns

Corncrakes are migratory birds that visit the Inner Hebrides from Spring to Autumn. They bring a lot of birdwatchers to the islands that they inhabit. These shy birds migrate from Africa and they  travel directly through the proposed Machair Wind Farm to get to Iona, Staffa, Treshnish, Tiree and Coll. When they migrate they fly at between 50 and 150 metres up so would be in the jeopardy with the gargantuan turbines proposed. The array is 445km² in size so the chances of the corncrakes avoiding it are slim. Despite SPR being made aware of migrating corncrakes they were not considered in the EIA. WHY???
